Rishabh Pant has scored 8 centuries in test cricket.

Rishabh Pant is the primary wicket-keeper batsman for Indian Cricket Team in tests. Although he was recently removed as India’s vice-captain, he is still part of the test team.

Ahead of the India vs Afghanistan test match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed KL Rahul as the new vice-captain in tests. Pant was named as the vice-captain last year ahead of the England tour; however, due to his dismal performance in the last test series against South Africa, he was stripped of his vice-captaincy.

Notably, Shubman Gill missed both tests against South Africa due to a neck injury, which he sustained in the first test while batting. Pant led the team in his absence. However, India suffered a humiliating 2-0 whitewash at home. The defeat also sent India to the lower half of the points table in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.

In the ongoing IND vs AFG 1st test, Rishabh Pant scored a half-century in the first innings. He scored 81 runs off 121 deliveries before becoming a victim of Hashmatullah Shahidi in the first session on Day 2, remaining short of his century. This is not the first time that he has lost his wicket just ahead of his century.

Notably, Rishabh Pant has been a victim of nervous nineties on many occasions in test cricket. Ahead of IND vs AFG test, he has lost his wicket in the 90s in seven innings. This is the eighth time that he has been dismissed close to his century.

Pant accounts for eight centuries in test cricket so far. If he would have gotten those hundreds, he could easily have 13-15 tons in his kitty.

During the England tour last year, Pant bagged a lot of limelight with his impressive performance. He scored 479 runs in seven innings at an average of 68.43. He also scored two centuries and three fifties in the campaign.

He became the first Indian keeper-batsman to score twin centuries in England. He also became the first visiting wicket-keeper batsman to complete 1000 test runs in England conditions.
