ENG vs IND: How did Vaibhav Sooryavanshi perform in his debut game for India?

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his debut in ENG vs IND 2nd T20I.

Indian Cricket Team are up against England in the second T20I of five-match series on Saturday, July 4. The encounter is taking place at Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.

The ENG vs IND 2nd T20I is a special game for India’s young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who made his international debut in the encounter. The left-handed batsman became the youngest player to play an international game for India and the youngest overall to feature in a T20I game.

Notably, Vaibhav was also part of the previous T20I series against Ireland but did not get a chance to make his debut. He earned his national call-up in the campaign after his impressive performances in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year.

Due to Sanju Samson‘s poor outing in the opening game against England and both T20I games against Ireland, the management decided to give a chance to Sooryavanshi in tonight’s game.

Therefore, he was given India cap ahead of the clash and allowed to open with Abhishek Sharma in the encounter. However, the youngster could not make a mark with his performance.

Notably, Abhishek took the strike while Sooryavanshi started at the non-striker’s end. Sharma took all six deliveries of Jofra Archer to himself.

Sooryavanshi faced the first ball of Josh Tongue’s second over and was beaten in his first-ever delivery in international cricket. Later, he missed another ball, while the third delivery was a wide that went to the boundary. He later took a single to give Abhishek strike.

The 15-year-old sent the first delivery of Jofra Archer for a six in the third over, replicating his style of smacking prominent bowlers for six. Later, he also sent the first delivery of Tongue over the boundary.

However, he got carried away in the next over of Will Jacks and lost his wicket as he got stumped by wicket-keeper Jos Buttler. With the help of two sixes, the Bihar batter scored 14 runs off 10 deliveries. Sooryavanshi started with two sixes but could not impress in his debut game.
