The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was held in a hybrid model across Pakistan and Dubai.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was hosted by Pakistan in their own backyard and Dubai. After extensive discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it was decided that India would play all their matches in Dubai instead of Pakistan.

The tournament saw the Indian team crowned champions after defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final. India remained unbeaten in the competition, winning all five games.

After recent reports suggested that the PCB faced losses due to stadium renovations for the competition, the board has now refuted the claims and confirmed a net profit of USD 10 million from the tournament.

PCB claims USD 10 million profit from ICC Champions Trophy 2025, dismisses loss reports

Speaking to the media, PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza dismissed reports claiming the board faced financial losses due to spending on stadium renovations for the Champions Trophy.

Mir said, “All expenses for the tournament were covered by the ICC. Additionally, after the audit, we expect to receive another Rs 3 billion from the ICC.

Mir also stated that PCB initially targeted Rs 2 billion in earnings from the Champions Trophy, but exceeded this goal.

He added, “With this financial strength, PCB now ranks among the top three richest cricket boards in the world. The board has also paid Rs 40 million in taxes. After 29 years, a major stadium upgrade project was undertaken, which was a significant task.”

On the other hand, Murtaza highlighted PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi’s key role in revising the fiscal targets. He confirmed that the PCB made several financial investments and set the stadium upgrade budget at Rs 18 billion.

Murtaza said, “The remaining funds will be used to further improve these and other stadiums, including those in Karachi, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi.

Murtaza confirmed that PCB will very soon make available all its financial details relating to the Champions Trophy on the board’s official website for transparency
