India recorded their second consecutive win in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India defeated Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai to inch closer to the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and elected to bat first. Pakistan struggled for momentum throughout their innings. While Saud Shakeel scored 62 runs off 76 balls, Rizwan’s knock of 46 off 77 was horrible. This meant fewer deliveries to play for the likes of Salman Agha, an excellent player of spin, and more pressure on the other batters.

Eventually, Pakistan were bowled out for 241. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets, Hardik Pandya took two wickets, while Axar, Harshit and Jadeja claimed a wicket each.

In the chase, India lost Rohit Sharma in the fifth over but Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli survived the rest of the powerplay. While Gill got out for 46, Kohli was at his best and knocked off a breezy half-century. Kohli found an able partner in Shreyas Iyer, and their stand of 114 runs effectively killed off the game.

Kohli stood till the end and hit the winning shot, with which he raised his 51st ODI century as well.

In Group A, India lead the points table having won both their games so far. India defeated Bangladesh by six wickets before thumping Pakistan. They have four points and one foot in the semi-finals.

Following India on the table are New Zealand, who beat Pakistan by 60 runs. They will next take on Bangladesh, and a win would seal their and India’s place in the semis. Pakistan would be praying for Bangladesh to beat the Kiwis to remain alive in the semi-finals race.

In Group B, all four teams have played a game each. South Africa defeated Afghanistan by a huge margin of 107 runs and Australia beat England by five wickets, chasing down the target of 352 runs.
