Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 21 runs by DLS method in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

In an exciting clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Bengaluru, New Zealand and Pakistan faced off in a match that was affected by rain, ultimately resulting in Pakistan’s victory by the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method (DLS method). New Zealand posted a challenging total of 401/6 in their 50 overs, led by impressive performances from Rachin Ravindra with 108 runs and Kane Williamson’s 95, supported by useful contributions from other batsmen.

Pakistan were tasked with chasing down a target of 342 runs in 41 overs due to the DLS adjustment. Fakhar Zaman played a remarkable, unbeaten innings of 126 runs off 81 balls, featuring eight fours and eleven sixes. Babar Azam’s 66 not out also played a vital role.

Ultimately, Pakistan won the game by 21 runs according to the DLS calculation, with Fakhar Zaman rightfully being awarded “Player of the Match” for his explosive performance. Pakistan finished at 200/1 after 25.3 overs.

After a rain affected match between New Zealand and Pakistan, Pakistan emerged victorious on the basis of DLS method. Winning the game has strengthened their chances for the knockout stages. Pakistan now find themselves at 5th position with 8 points and a NRR of +0.036 after 8 games.

The way New Zealand started their tournament, are now looking very poor in the back-end of the tournament. Their chances in the semi-finals are looking tough now after this defeat. New Zealand are now at fourth position with 8 points in 8 games with NRR of +0.398.

India are still at top of the table with South Africa holding the second spot followed by Australia at 3rd.

Kiwi all-rounder Rachin Ravindra was at his best with the best with the bat against Pakistan, he scored yet another hundred of the tournament. He scored 108 runs of 94 balls which included 15 boundaries and one six. With his century, he climbed up a couple of spots in the run-scorers’ chart.

South African wicket-keeper batter Quinton De Kock is at the top spot with 545 runs in 7 innings. New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra is 2nd in the tally with 523 runs. Indian top-order batter Virat Kohli is at number 3 in the table with 442 runs in 7 innings. Australian opener David Warner is 4th with 428 runs, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is 5th in the table with 402 runs in 7 innings.

Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi went wicketless against New Zealand, but still is in the wicket-takers list. He had the figures of 0/90 in his 10 overs.

Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka is on top of the list with 18 wickets in 7 games. Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa is second in the list with 16 wickets. South African all-rounder Marco Jansen is 3rd in this list with 16 wickets. Pakistan pace bowler Shaheen Afridi is 4th with 16 wickets.
