India finished the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 group stage with 9 wins in 9 games.

Team India have given a great Diwali bonanza to the Indian cricket fans as they outclassed the Netherlands by 160 runs in the game at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In a treat for the fans, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Bengaluru’s favourite son, Virat Kohli picked up a wicket each in the game. Rohit Sharma finished the game after dismissing Teja Nidamanuru as Netherlands’ last wicket. India bowled out Netherlands for 250 runs, Virat Kohli dismissed Netherlands captain Scott Edwards caught behind the wicket by KL Rahul. India looked to explore a sixth bowling option before the semi-final against New Zealand. 

Team India posted 410 runs on the board with magnificent innings from Shreyas Iyer (128) and KL Rahul (105). Indian top-order also had a terrific run as captain Rohit Sharma (61), Shubman Gill (51) and Virat Kohli (51) all scored a half-centuries. This was only the third occasion in ODI cricket and the first ever in a World Cup game where the top 5 batters of a team went on to score fifty-plus in the innings. Teja Nidamanuru (54) and Saybrand Engelbrecht (45) were the top scorers for the Dutch, who lost the game by 160 runs. Team India will play against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, 15th November.

After decimating the Netherlands, India have finished at top of the table with 18 points and 9 wins in 9 games. If they go on to win the trophy from here, they will become 3rd team to win the Cricket World Cup undefeated. South Africa have finished second after the final league-round game, Australia remain third and New Zealand end up as 4th placed team.

Pakistan finished 5th in the table with 8 points. Afghanistan placed 5th with 8 points. England are placed 7th, and Bangladesh have ended up at 8th spot in the points table. All these teams have also qualified for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. Sri Lanka and the Netherlands missed out on qualification after finishing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at 9th and 10th spots respectively. 

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Most Runs 

Virat Kohli is now the leading run-scorer of the tournament after his 51 runs knock against the Netherlands at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Kohli has overtaken South African wicket-keeper batter Quinton De Kock who is just 3 runs behind Virat’s tally of 594 runs. Quinton De Kock is second with 591 runs.

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra is third third-leading run-scorer with 565 runs in 9 innings. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has completed 500 runs for the second consecutive edition of the World Cup and now is placed at 4th position with 503 runs. Australia opener David Warner is fifth in the table with just one run away from 500 runs in 9 innings.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Most Wickets 

Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa is currently the leading wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 9 games in the league round. Zampa had a few poor games when the World Cup 2023 began last month, but soon he picked up the momentum and picked up 22 wickets so far.

Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka is second on the list with 21 wickets in 9 games. South African pacer Gerald Coetzee is 3rd in the list with 18 wickets. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi picked up 18 wickets in 9 games. Jasprit Bumrah, after picking two wickets against Netherlands, has once again entered the top five of the chart and is placed at 5th position with 17 wickets to his name.
