ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 will take place in October and November in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the format of the ODI World Cup 2027 on Wednesday, July 15. The format for the tournament was finalised in the ICC Annual General Meeting in Edinburg last month.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia next year. It will take place from October 4 to November 27 and feature a battle among 14 teams for the title. A total of 54 games will be played during the tournament.
Australia are the defending champions of ICC Cricket World Cup, having won the previous edition in 2023 in India. The Pat Cummins & Co. defeated India in the final by six wickets. Notably, the previous two editions were played in the round-robin format, but it won’t be the case in the next edition.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 to feature three-stage format in the lead-up to final

The ODI World Cup 2027 will have three stages ahead of the summit clash. Below are the complete details.
Round 1 – Out of the 14 teams, the bottom three placed sides in ICC rankings will play a round-robin Super Series, the winner of which will progress to the next round.
Round 2 (30 matches) – The remaining 12 teams will be divided into two groups of six teams each (A & B). They will play a round-robin format, facing each team of their pool once. After the end of the group stage, the top three teams from each group, along with the next best-placed team across both groups, will move ahead to the Super 7 stage.
Round 3 Super 7 (21 matches) – In the Super 7 round, the seven teams will clash in a round-robin format. Eventually, the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. The team finishing first will face the fourth-placed side, while the second and third-placed teams will meet in the other semi-final.
The winners of both semi-finals will lock horns in the final on November 21.
