India and Pakistan will play their World Cup match on 10th October. It will be another big India-Pakistan clash, with two teams producing blockbuster clashes in the 2015, 2019 and 2023 editions.
The new World Cup format also means the two teams could meet again later in the tournament if they both reach the Super 7 stage or the knockout rounds.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 will have a different format from the last two editions. The three lowest-ranked teams among the 14 qualified teams will first play a three-team Super Series. Each team will play the other two teams once. The winner will move into the next stage.
The winner will then join 11 other teams in the main group stage. The 12 teams will be divided into two groups of six.
Each team will play five matches in their group. The top three teams from both groups will move forward. The best fourth-placed team across the two groups will also qualify for the Super 7 stage. The Super 7 will have 21 matches.
The top four teams will reach the semi-finals. The tournament will have 12 venues across the three countries. South Africa will have eight venues, while Zimbabwe will have three and Namibia will have one. The tournament is scheduled to finish with the final on November 21, 2027.
