Suryakumar Yadav-led India won Asia Cup 2025 defeating Pakistan in the final.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken strict action against a few players of Indian Cricket Team and Pakistan Cricket Team for violating ICC Code of Conduct during Asia Cup 2025. To begin with, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has been handed two demerit points for his comments, which he made after the victory over Pakistan on September 14 after the group stage clash.

In the post-match presentation, Yadav had dedicated the victory to the Indian Armed Forces. He has been found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to conduct that brings the game into disrepute. He was fined 30 per cent of his match fee and received two demerit points. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been handed one demerit point for a gesture he made during the final of Asia Cup 2025.

Moreover, pacer Arshdeep Singh was not charged with breach of Article 2.6, which pertains to using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting. However, he was not found guilty by the ICC in the matter.

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been found guilty of two separate offences during matches between Pakistan and India in Asia Cup 2025. He has been charged with breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to conduct that brings the game into disrepute. He was fined 30 per cent of his match fee and received two demerit points. Rauf did not accept the charges on both occasions and formal hearings were held in the matter. He was handed four demerit points and, as a result, has been banned for two international games.

The 31-year-old pacer missed the opening ODI game against South Africa on Tuesday and will also be unavailable for the second ODI. According to ICC rules, when a player earns two demerit points within a 24-month period, he has to serve a two-match suspension. Rauf was seen making provocative gestures towards the crowd near the boundary and was also involved in heated verbal spats with Indian batters.

Furthermore, Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan received an official warning and was handed one demerit point. He was caught in the controversy for his gunfire celebration after scoring a half-century against India.

India and Pakistan faced each other on three occasions during Asia Cup 2025 and all the games witnessed multiple heated exchanges between players. The controversy started after Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistan players in the opening clash of the group stage on September 14. As a result, Pakistan captain Salman Agha did not attend the post-match presentation and termed the Indian players’ action against the spirit of the game.

After the final on September 28, Indian players refused to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi, who also happens to be the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and also a minister in Pakistan’s government. Following Indian team’s refusal to collect the trophy from him, he ran away with the trophy.

Why has Haris Rauf been banned for two games by ICC?

Haris Rauf was found breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct twice during Asia Cup 2025, which resulted in him getting four demerit points, which accounts for two-match ban if received within a 24-month period.

How many demerit points has the ICC handed to Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah?
