ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh squad, schedule, timings, venues and all you need to know

Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

On May 14, 2024, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced 15-member Bangladesh squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Left-handed batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto has been named as captain of the Bangladesh cricket team for the upcoming tournament. The T20 World Cup 2024 will take place in June in USA and the Caribbean Islands.

Veteran player Mahmudullah has been included in Bangladesh’s squad for this year’s T20 World Cup after missing out on the tournament two years ago in Australia.

Despite being injured right now, right-arm speedster Taskin Ahmed has been named in the World Cup 2024 squad. The selection committee has also named him as vice-captain for the upcoming global tournament.

Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and right-handed batter Litton Das also have been included in the squad. In the T20 World Cup 2022, Bangladesh played five games, won two matches, and couldn’t go past the Super 12 stage.

Bangladesh’s full schedule for T20 World Cup 2024:

Shanto’s side will begin their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 7, when they will face arch-rivals Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will then face South Africa on June 10. Their third and fourth group stage matches will be against the Netherlands and Nepal on June 13 and 16, respectively.

• June 7: vs Sri Lanka
• June 10: vs South Africa
• June 13: vs Netherlands
• June 16: vs Nepal

The Super Eight matches will be played from June 19 to June 25.

In which venues will Bangladesh play their group stage matches in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024?

The Shanto-led side will play their first two matches in the USA and then head to the Caribbean Islands to play their remaining two league stage matches.

Against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh will play at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on June 7. Then, on June 10, the Shanto-led side will take on South Africa at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Bangladesh will play the Netherlands and Nepal at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent, on June 13 and 16, respectively.

What are the timings of Bangladesh’s matches in T20 World Cup 2024?

Bangladesh’s match against Sri Lanka is scheduled for 6:00 a.m. IST (June 8)/7:30 p.m. local time (June 7). Their next group stage game against South Africa will be played at 8:00 PM IST/9:30 AM local time on June 10.

Against the Netherlands, their match is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. IST/10:30 a.m. local time on June 13. The Shanto-led side will take on Nepal in their last league-stage match. The encounter is set to kick off at 5:00 a.m. IST (June 17)/7:30 p.m. local time (June 16).
