ICC T20 World Cup 2024: India squad, schedule, timings, venues and all you need to know

India will kick off their ICC T20 World Cup campaign on June 5 against Ireland.

On May 13, 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee tournament will be jointly hosted by the USA and the West Indies in June.

The selection committee named Rohit Sharma as the skipper, who will lead the well-established Men in Blue team. All-rounder Hardik Pandya will serve as the deputy of Rohit during the T20 World Cup 2024. India’s sole title triumph in this competition occurred 17 years ago, during the inaugural edition in 2007. 

This year’s global tournament will be played in a new format that includes 20 teams for the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup. The 20 sides are divided into four groups of five teams each.

The top two teams from each group will proceed to the Super Eight stage. There, the eight sides will be split into two groups of four each. The top two sides from their respective groups will advance through to the semi-finals, and then the winners of the semi-finals will clash for the ultimate glory on June 29th.

India’s full schedule for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

The Men in Blue are placed in Group A with arch-rivals Pakistan, co-hosts USA, Ireland, and Canada.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will begin their group stage journey on June 5 against Ireland. The much-awaited Indo-Pak clash will take place on June 9. The Men in Blue will play their third group stage game against the United States on June 12, followed by a game against Canada on June 15.

The Super 8 stage will begin on June 19 and will run till June 25. Then, the semi-finals will take place on June 26 and 27, followed by the final on June 29.

In which venues will India play the group stage matches in the T20 World Cup 2024?

The Men in Blue will play their first three group-stage matches – against Ireland, Pakistan and the United States – at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in East Meadow, New York.

Their last league match, against Canada on June 15, will be played at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. It is to be noted that if the Men In Blue qualify for the Super 8, then they will play all their matches in West Indies.

What are the timings of Indian side matches in T20 World Cup 2024?

All four group-stage matches of the Indian Cricket Team at the global tournament will be played at 9:30 AM local time and 8:00 PM IST.
