ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Pakistan squad, schedule, timings, venues and all you need to know

Pakistan are placed in Group A along with India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on May 24. The global tournament will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States in June. 

Star batter Babar Azam, who was handed back T20I captaincy from Shaheen Afridi earlier this year, will lead the Men in Green during the upcoming ICC tournament. PCB has included some inexperienced players like Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan, in their 15-man squad.

Further, veteran players Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who reversed their retirements earlier this year, have been named in the 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC event. Notably, Amir featured in the 2016 T20 World Cup, while Wasim was part of the 2021 World Cup campaign for Pakistan.

Interestingly, senior pacer Hasan Ali has been sidelined by the selection committee for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024.

The Men in Green had a stunning run in the T20 World Cup 2022, where they reached the grand finale. However, they suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of England at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Pakistan won the T20 World Cup in 2009.

Pakistan’s full schedule for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:

The Babar Azam-led Men in Green are placed in Group A along with arch-rivals India, co-hosts USA, Ireland, and Canada.

Pakistan will begin their campaign on June 6 against co-hosts USA. The Babar-led side will then take on India in the high-voltage clash on June 9. The Men in Green will then face Canada on June 11, followed by their last group-stage match against Ireland on June 16.

The Super Eight matches will be played from June 19 to June 25.

In which venues will Pakistan play their group stage matches in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024?

The Men in Green will play their first match against the United States at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on June 6. Pakistan will play their next two group-stage matches, against India and Canada, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

They will play their final league stage match at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida against Ireland on June 16.

Pakistan’s opening game against the United States on June 6 is scheduled to be played at 09:00 PM IST (10:30 AM Local). Their remaining three games – against India, Canada and Ireland – are scheduled to be played at 08:00 PM IST (09:30 AM Local)
