ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Points table, most runs & most wickets after match 14,15, AFG vs NZ & SL vs BAN

Afghanistan and Bangladesh recorded victories on Friday night in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

June 7, Friday, night saw two exciting matches in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Afghanistan thumped New Zealand by 84 runs in Guyana and Bangladesh emerged victorious by 2 wickets in a low-scoring thriller against Sri Lanka in Dallas.

Talking first about the AFG vs NZ match, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi were the stars for Afghanistan in their historic victory over the Kiwis. Gurbaz scored 80 runs in 56 balls which helped his side post 159. Then, Farooqi and Rashid got on a roll, both taking four wickets each as New Zealand got bundled for only 75 runs.

In Dallas, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain and pacer Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets each to restrict Sri Lanka to 124. Pathum Nissanka top-scored for Sri Lanka with 47 (28) but others couldn’t support his knock. In reply, Bangladesh were 28/3, but Liton Das’ 36 and Towhid Hridoy’s 40 got them going in the chase. Eventually, Mahmudullah remained not out on 16 and took Bangladesh over the line in the chase.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: All Groups Points Table

Group A

USA are at the top of Group A with two wins in as many matches. India have one win in their only game and are followed by Canada, who have one win and one loss. Pakistan have lost their only fixture while Ireland have lost both their games.

Group B

Scotland lead Group B with three points – one win and one washout. Australia and Namibia both have two points each. England’s only game was washed out while Oman have lost both their matches so far.

Group C

Afghanistan have four points in two games and with a healthy net run rate, they are looking set for racing Super 8 round. West Indies and Uganda have two points each while New Zealand and Papua New Guinea have not opened their account yet.

Group D

South Africa, Netherlands and Bangladesh all have two points each, having played one game each. Nepal have lost their only game while Sri Lanka have been defeated in both their matches.
