ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Points table, most runs & most wickets after match 19, IND vs PAK

India defeated Pakistan by 6 runs in Group A encounter of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

It was a brilliant display of bowling by Pakistan pacers as they restricted the explosive Indian batting line-up to just 119 runs in 19th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in New York.

After opting to field first, the Pakistan pace trio of Naseem Shah (3/21), Mohammad Amir (2/23) and Haris Rauf (3/21) dismantled the Men in Blue batting order on a tricky New York Pitch. For India, Rishabh Pant scored a crucial knock of 42 runs, while the rest of the batters failed to deliver with the bat in the high-voltage encounter.

While chasing 120 runs, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam managed to score just 13 runs as he was dismissed by a stunning delivery from India speedster Jasprit Bumarh courtesy a splendid catch from Suryakumar Yadav at slips.

However, Mohammad Rizwan and Usman Khan stitched a crucial partnership of 31 runs for the second wicket before left-arm spinner Axar Patel removed Usman for 13 runs in the 11th over of the second innings.

Bumrah once again provided the crucial breakthrough when he removed well-set opener Rizwan for 31 runs in the 15th over. After that, Men in Green kept losing wickets at regular wickets. In the 20th over of the match, Arshdeep Singh defended 18 runs as the Men in Blue won the thrilling clash by six runs.

1. Group A

After hammering Pakistan in New York, India jumped to first place with four points and NRR of +1.455. After suffering a defeat, Babar Azam-led Pakistan continued to stay at the second position with zero victories and an NRR of -0.150.

Meanwhile, co-hosts United States of America are ranked second with two victories to their name. Canada and Ireland are slotted at the fourth and fifth spots, respectively, in the Group A standings.

2. Group B

Scotland, who have won two out of three games played, are at top of the Group B standings with 5 points and NRR of +2.164. Following them next are Australia with four points and NRR of +1.875.

Meanwhile, Namibia are placed third with one win in the two group stage matches they have played so far. Defending champions England and Oman are languishing in the fourth and fifth positions respectively in the Group B points table.

3. Group C

Following a big victory over New Zealand, Afghanistan find themselves at top with four points and impressive NRR of +5.225. Hosts West Indies are ranked second with four points and a NRR of +3.574.

Uganda are slotted third with one victory and two losses to their name. Papua New Guinea and New Zealand remain at fourth and fifth spots respectively. Both the sides are yet to win the match in the ongoing tournament.

4. Group D

After winning two matches in the ongoing ICC tournament, South Africa are slotted first with four points and an NRR of +0.789. Bangladesh find themselves at second position with two points and NRR of +0.379. 

With one victory in two matches, the Netherlands are positioned third with two points. Nepal and Sri Lanka are languishing bottom of the Group D standings. They are yet to win the match in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
