South Africa clinched a thrilling match against Bangladesh by four runs at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

It was a stunning effort by the Bangladesh bowlers as they restricted the star-studded South Africa batting order to a modest 113/6 in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 10. However, that proved to be four runs more than what Bangladesh could manage to score and they suffered their first loss at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

After being asked to bowl first, Bangladesh bowlers bowled tight lines to the Proteas’ batters. Medium pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib bagged a three-wicket haul and veteran speedster Taskin Ahmed took two wickets, as Bangladesh restricted South Africa below the 120-run mark.

With the bat, wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen played a valuable knock of 46 runs and left-handed batter David Miller chipped in with 29. The rest of the Proteas’ batters failed to get going.

While defending 114, South Africa removed four Bangladesh batters – Tanzid Hasan (9), Najmul Hossain Shanto (14), Litton Das (9) and Shakib Al Hasan (3) inside the first 10 overs.

Towhid Hridoy played a critical knock of 37 runs along with Mahmudullah, who scored 20, but the Proteas’ bowlers kept things tight at the end and managed to win the game by four runs.
