ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Points table, most runs & most wickets after match 22, PAK vs CAN

Pakistan earner their maiden points after defeating Canada in 22nd match of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan bowlers bowled their hearts out as they restricted Canada to a modest total 106/7 in 20 overs in the match No. 22 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on June 11. 

After opting to field first, Pakistan pacers Mohammad Amir (2/13), Haris Rauf (2/26), Shaheen Afridi (1/21), and Naseem Shah (1/24) delivered with the ball as they stopped Canada under the 110-run mark in the must-win match.

For Canada, Aaron Johnson played a critical knock of 52 runs, while the rest of the batters failed to impress with the bat. Skipper Saad Bin Zafar (10*) and Kaleem Sana (13*) also chipped in at the end.

While chasing 107 runs, Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan and skipper Babar Azam (33) stitched a crucial partnership of 63 runs. Rizwan (53*) slammed a match-winning half-century as Men in Green won the match by seven wickets and stayed alive in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

1. Group A

After defeating Canada by seven wickets, Pakistan earned their maiden points at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Babar-led side are placed third with two points and NRR of 0.191.

After suffering a defeat, Canada dropped down to fourth position with two points and NRR of -0.493. Meanwhile, India continue to stay at the top with four points. Following them closely are the co-hosts United States of America, with two victories to their name. Paul Stirling-led Ireland are placed fifth.

2. Group B

In the Group B standings, Scotland are positioned at top of the table with five points. Mitchell Marsh-led Australia follow them next with four points.

Namibia and defending champions England are slotted in the third and fourth positions respectively. Meanwhile, Oman, who have lost three out of three games have no chance to proceed to the Super 8 stage.

3. Group C

Afghanistan are comfortably holding their top spot with four points and healthy NRR of 5.225. Following them closely are the co-hosts West Indies, with two victories and NRR of 3.574. Uganda find themselves placed third with two points.

Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand remained at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Both sides are yet to win a match at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

4. Group D

After winning the match against Bangladesh, South Africa solidified their No. 1 spot with six points. They have already qualified for the Super 8stage.

On the other hand, Bangladesh remained in second place with two points. Meanwhile, Netherlands are ranked third and Nepal are ranked fourth. Sri Lanka are languishing at bottom of the Group D standings without a win so far.
