India defeated Ireland by eight wickets in eighth match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The Indian pace quartet, including vice-captain Hardik Pandya, produced a stunning bowling effort as they bowled Ireland out for just 96 runs in their Group A clash at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in New York on June 5.

While chasing skipper Rohit Sharma smashed 52 runs before retiring hurt. His knock helped the Men in Blue win the match by eight wickets and with more than seven overs to spare.

Pandya (3/27) had the best figures in the game, and he received support from Arshdeep Singh (2/35) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/6) after skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first.

With the bat, the Irish batters failed to showcase their skills on a spicy New York pitch, as none of them crossed the 30-run mark. Gareth Delany (26) was the top run scorer for his side and Ireland couldn’t reach even 100 runs. While defending 97 runs, Ireland pacer Mark Adair removed Indian opener Virat Kohli for just one run in the third over of the second innings.

However, after surviving a tricky period against the new ball, skipper Rohit Sharma played counter-attacking cricket and hammered an entertaining fifty. Rohit went off the field soon after reaching half-century. Everyone is awaiting information on the blow he took on his arm. Rishabh Pant (36*) chipped in with the bat as Men in Blue won the one-sided contest by eight wickets at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
