ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Points table, most runs & most wickets after match 43, AFG vs IND

India are placed at top of the Group 1 standings in Super 8 round at ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

World No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav smashed a fantastic half century as India posted 181/8 in 20 overs against Afghanistan in Super 8 clash at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on June 20 in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. While defending the total, Indian speedsters Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh scalped three wickets each as Men in Blue emerged victorious by 47 runs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Indian openers Virat Kohli (24) and Rohit Sharma (8) failed to provide a quick start. Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant added 20 runs as the Men in Blue reached 79/3 at the end of first 10 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav smashed 53 runs off 28 balls, whereas vice-captain Hardik Pandya scored crucial 32 runs as Men in Blue went past the 180-run mark on a slow Barbados surface. For Afghanistan, seamer Fazalhaq Farooqi and captain Rashid Khan scalped three wickets each.

While chasing 182, Afghanistan lost three wickets of wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz (11), Hazratullah Zazai (2), and Ibrahim Zadran (8) inside the first powerplay.

Indian bowlers continued to bowl to tight lines after the powerplay as they picked up two more wickets from Gulbadin Naib (17) and Azmatullah Omarzai (26) as Afghanistan slumped to 91/5 after the end of 14 overs.

Towards the end, Indian bowlers kept chipping wickets at regular intervals as they all-out Afghanistan for 134 runs and won the match by 47 runs.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Super 8 Points Table

Group 1

After winning the match against Afghanistan, the Rohit Sharma-led India are at top of the Group 1 of Super 8 stage at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue have two points with NRR of +2.350.

Afghanistan, who suffered a defeat against India, have zero points with NRR of -2.350. They are placed second. Meanwhile, Australia and Bangladesh are yet to play a match in Group 1 of the Super 8 round.

Group 2

In Group 2, defending champions England are at top of the points table with two points and NRR of +1.343. Following them closely are South Africa, with one victory to their name.

The United States of America and two-time T20 World Champions West Indies are at third and fourth positions respectively without a win yet in the Super 8 stage.
