The start of the NAM vs ENG match in Antigua was delayed by more than 40 minutes.

Rain in Antigua on Saturday has added to the drama of qualification to the Super 8 round in Group B as the Namibia Vs. England match got delayed by more than 40 minutes, at the time of writing. This delay is likely to extend to at least 20 more minutes.

From Group B of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Australia have already qualified for the next round; Namibia and Oman are eliminated from the Super 8 race. The one remaining spot from this group will be filled by either defending champions England or Scotland.

Talking about the points table situation, in three games England have three points while Scotland have five points in three games. England have a much healthier net run rate of +3.081 compared to Scotland’s +2.164.

Scotland still have their destiny in their own hands as they need a victory in their remaining group stage fixture, though getting it over Australia would be a herculean task for them.

Which team will qualify for Super 8 if NAM vs ENG gets washed out?

If England’s clash against Namibia ends without a result, England will conclude group stage with four points, which is one lesser than Scotland, who will advance to the Super 8 round and the defending champions will be knocked out.

England need to defeat Namibia and hope that Scotland loses to Australia; even a washout in the AUS vs SCO match would knock England out. A washout in the NAM vs ENG game will also knock England out.

The English team and their fans would be praying to have at least a five-over-a-side match as the Three Lions have the tools to thrash Namibia in a short game as well. The defending champions need a result in their favour and rain gods have England’s fate in their hands right now.
