ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Super 8 Points table, most runs & most wickets after match 47, IND vs BAN
After defeating Bangladesh by 50 runs, India have almost booked a berth in the semi-finals at ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Vice-captain Hardik Pandya showcased his class and power as he hammered a superb 27-ball half-century, which helped India post 196/5 in 20 overs against Bangladesh in their Super 8 match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on June 20 in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
After being asked to bat first, vice-captain Pandya struck 50 unbeaten runs off 27 balls, whereas Shivam Dube (34 off 24 balls), Rishabh Pant (36 off 24 balls), and Virat Kohli (37 off 28 balls) were other significant contributors as India went past the 190-run mark.
For Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossain took two wickets each. Veteran spinner Shakib Al Hasan scalped one wicket.
While chasing, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hasan Shanto scored 40 runs in 32 balls, and opener Tanzid Hasan played a 29-run knock off 31 balls. Apart from them, all the other Bangladesh batters failed to score against the Indian bowling attack and they lost the match by 50 runs.
For India, leg spinner Kuldeep Yadav picked up a three-wicket haul. Speedsters Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh bagged two wickets each while Hardik Pandya took one scalp.
With this victory and a net run rate of +2.425, India have almost booked their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, whereas Bangladesh, with two losses in two games and NRR of -2.489, are all but out of the semi-finals race.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Super 8 Points Table
Group 1
After defeating Bangladesh comfortably, the Sharma-led India are at the top of Group 1 standings in the Super 8 round. The Men in Blue have four points with an NRR of +2.425.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are languishing at the bottom of the Group 1 standings with a win. They are almost out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The Mitchell Marsh-led Australia are slotted in the second position with two points. They will face India on June 24. Afghanistan find themselves in the third spot, having lost their only game in this round.
Group 2
Things are heating up in Group 2 of the Super 8 as three teams are fiercely competing to book their seats in the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
South Africa lead the Group 2 standings with four points to their name and NRR of +0.625. The West Indies are second with two points and NRR of +1.814, which is much better than the other three teams in their group. Defending champions England are positioned third with two points and NRR of 0.412.
Meanwhile, the USA are languishing at the bottom, with zero victories to their name and are all but out of the semis race.
