ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Super 8 Points table, most runs & most wickets after match 51, AUS vs IND

India became the first team from Group 1 to reach the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma displayed stunning batting performance as his side posted 205/5 against mighty Australia in their final Super 8 match in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, on June 24.
After being asked to bat first, India lost Virat Kohli for a duck in the second over of the innings. Indian opener Rohit went into beast mode after losing Kohli as he hammered Australian pacer Mitchell Starc for 28 runs in his second over, which set the tone of the match.
The Indian skipper went on to score 92 runs in just 41 balls, which included seven boundaries and eight sixes. Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 16 balls) and Shivam Dube (28 off 22) kept the tempo before vice-captain Hardik Pandya (27* off 17) finished the India innings in style.
While chasing 206, Australian opener Travis Head played a blistering knock of 76 runs off 43 balls, including nine boundaries and six sixes. Skipper Mitchell Marsh scored 37 runs, whereas Glenn Maxwell added 20 runs. Their efforts went in vein as India won the high-voltage clash by 24 runs.
With this victory, India became the first team from Group 1 of Super 8 to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Meanwhile, Australia’s hopes of reaching the semis depend on the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Super 8 match.

Group 1
After defeating Australia, the Rohit Sharma-led India became the first side from Group 1 to reach the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament. Men in Blue finished at the top with six points to their name.
After losing the must-win match against India, Australia are placed second with two points. It is to be noted that they have played all their Super 8 games. In order to qualify for the semis, Aussies must pray Afghanistan lose their match against Bangladesh, but not by a huge margin.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are ranked third and fourth in the Group 1 standings respectively.
Group 2
South Africa and England became the two teams from Group 2 of the Super 8 to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
South Africa finished at the top after winning all three games, whereas defending champions England won two matches in Group 2.
Co-hosts of the tournament West Indies and the United States of America are eliminated from the ongoing tournament.
