India Women defeated South Africa Women to win ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
At the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, Team India made history by winning their first world championship and establishing new standards for cricket and women’s sports coverage in India. India defeated Laura Wolvaardt’s South Africa by 52 runs on 2nd November at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai to win their first ICC title.
India batted first in the final and, thanks to 87 by Shafali Verma and 58 by Deepti Sharma, posted 298/7 in 50 overs. In response, Deepti Sharma starred with the ball, taking 5/39, and Shafali took two wickets as well, while Laura Wolvaardt scored 101 runs. But, South Africa were always behind in the chase as Laura couldn’t find any support from the other end.
India Women broke their World Cup drought by winning the final by 52 runs and became the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 champions. Deepti’s tally of 215 runs and 22 wickets made her the first cricketer to register the unique double of 200+ runs and 20+ wickets in a single Women’s World Cup and made her Player of the Tournament. Shafali Verma became Player of the Final.
