Big blow for BCCI and ICC! Karnataka government denies permission to host ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 matches at M Chinnaswamy - Reports

ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will begin on 30th September.
In what has been the latest development, as per a report in India Today, it is learnt that the Karnataka government has denied permission to host ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru.
This comes as a massive blow for both the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as they will have to make a sudden shift in the venues. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been under a massive scanner after Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 ended.
After Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won IPL 2025, they held a victory parade at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, that turned out to be tragic as several people lost their lives in the stampede, and over 50 were injured.
Following that, the venue was deemed unfit to host any cricket games. Even the Maharaja Cup T20 tournament from Bengaluru to Mysuru. It was then that the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) asked for permission to host matches in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
KSCA unhappy with the government’s decision

The reports claimed that the KSCA was unhappy with the government’s decision, saying that they successfully hosted over 750 matches and nearly 15 IPL seasons. The KCA said that they requested to host the matches without fans, but their calls went unanswered.
According to the schedule of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, M Chinnaswamy Stadium was scheduled to host four games and the final, if Pakistan didn’t qualify. The venue was slated to host the tournament opener between India and Sri Lanka.
Also, England vs South Africa on October 4 was also scheduled to be played here, along with the last league match of the tournament between India and Bangladesh on 26th October. The second semi-final on 30th October also was allocated to the venue.
