Defeating Australia in any ICC women’s tournament is the toughest feat for any team.

Overall, Australia have played 189 Women’s T20I matches till now. The Women in Yellow have won 129 and suffered defeats in 51 matches. Four matches were tied, whereas five games ended without any result.

Talking about the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the Women in Yellow have established their legacy in this elite ICC tournament. In 44 Women’s T20 World Cup matches, Australia have won 35 matches and suffered only eight defeats till now. One game was tied.

Out of eight ICC Women’s T20 World Cups, Australia have won six titles. The Women in Yellow have been incredibly dominant in this competition.

The inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was played in 2009, which was won by England.

Australia clinched their maiden trophy in the 2010 edition by defeating New Zealand in the final. The Women in Yellow then defended their title in 2012. They won the grand finale against arch-rivals England.

Australia became the first team to win a hat-trick of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. They achieved this historic feat after successfully winning the 2014 edition by defeating England in the final again.

However, their legendary run was halted in the 2016 edition when a spirited West Indies side defeated Australia in the final.

Australia then won three consecutive titles in the 2018, 2020, and 2023 editions.
