South Africa are ranked fifth in the latest ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 Points Table

Through a terrific performance from the South African cricket team, the Proteas clinched the two-match test series against hosts West Indies 1-0. The Proteas defeated West Indies by 40 runs in the second test match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on August 17. The opening fixture between the two teams ended in a draw at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad.

South Africa were left stunned after they were all-out for 160 runs in their first innings. At one point they were at 97/9, but Dane Piedt (38*) and Nandre Burger (23) added crucial runs for the final wicket as the visitors reached 160.

West Indies speedster Shamar Joseph took his maiden five-wicket haul at home, whereas Jayden Seales took three wickets.

The South African bowlers hit back strongly as the West Indies were bundled out for 144. Nandre Burger (3/49) and Wiaan Mulder (4/32) helped their side take a crucial lead of 16 runs.

South Africa’s batters displayed a better performance in their second innings. Opener Aiden Markram (51) and wicket-keeper batter Kyle Verreynne (59) helped the visitors set the target of 262 runs. Seales displayed a stunning performance with the ball as he bagged a six-wicket haul.

Then, Kagiso Rabada (3/50), Wiaan Mulder (2/35), and Keshav Maharaj (3/37) broke the hosts’ batting line-up as they managed to score 222 runs while chasing 262. The hosts lost the match by 40 runs and also the series 1-0.

The results of the West Indies vs South Africa test series saw some changes in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table.

South Africa jumped to the fifth place with two wins and three losses. Their PCT currently is 38.89.

The West Indies are ranked at the bottom of the WTC standings after the conclusion of the two-match test series. They have one win from nine matches and their PCT is 18.52.

India hold the top spot in the WTC points table 2023-25, whereas Australia are positioned second. Both nations are strong contenders to reach the grand finale of the World Test Championship 2023-25.

New Zealand and Sri Lanka follow Australia, with PCT of 50 each. Pakistan and England are in the bottom half of the table and will need to pull off a spate of victories to reach the WTC final next year.
