South Africa are ranked fourth in the latest ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings.

South Africa outclassed hosts Bangladesh in the opening match of the two-match test series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

The visitors won the first test by seven wickets and have taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match test series. It is a memorable victory for South Africa as they won their first test match in Asia since 2014.

Talking about the match, Bangladesh were bundled out just 106 runs in their first innings as Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, and Wiaan Mulder bagged three wickets each.

In reply, South Africa were in trouble at 108/6 before Kyle Verreynne played a rescue knock of 114 runs. Wiaan Mulder also chipped in with 54 runs as South Africa finished at 308.

In Bangladesh’s second innings, the hosts were struggling at 112/6. Then, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 97-run knock and Jaker Ali’s fighting 58 helped them to 307 and set a target of 106 runs for South Africa.

While chasing, opener Tony de Zorzi scored 41 runs as the Proteas won the match by seven wickets.

After winning the Dhaka test, South Africa climbed to fourth place in the latest ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings. The Proteas have won three out of seven matches they have played till now in this cycle. Their PCT (percentage of points won) currently is 47.62.

With this defeat, Bangladesh remained in seventh place, having three wins in the nine matches in this cycle. Their PCT currently is 30.56.

Meanwhile, India and Australia are the top two sides in the latest ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings. India’s PCT is 68.06 and Australia’s is 62.50.

Sri Lanka are ranked third with five wins from nine matches, and their PCT is 55.56. New Zealand and England are placed in fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

Pakistan and the West Indies are languishing at the bottom of the ICC WTC 2023-25 standings.
