India still top the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings.

Veteran Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin displayed all-round performance as India won the first test match in Chennai by a massive 280 runs against Bangladesh on September 22.

After being asked to bat first, India were rocked to 96/4 at one stage. However, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 56 runs and stabilized the innings for the hosts. Later, Ravichandran Ashwin scored a stunning hundred (113), while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with crucial 86 to guide India to 376 in the first innings.

In reply, Bangladesh were bundled out for 149 runs after Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah took a four-wicket haul. In the second innings, Indian batters Shubman Gill (119*) and Rishabh Pant (109) scored fantastic hundreds before India declared at 287-4 and set a massive target of 519 runs for the visitors.

While chasing, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto played a gritty knock of 82 runs. However, the visitors were outclassed by the Indian spin duo of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Ashwin bagged six wickets and Jadeja took three scalps as Bangladesh were bundled out for 234 and India won the match by a massive 280 runs.

After winning the first test against Bangladesh, the Indian cricket team strengthened their position at the top in the latest ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings.

India have now won seven matches out of 10 they played till now. Their PCT currently is 71.67. After losing the Chennai test, Bangladesh have slipped down from fourth position and are now placed sixth with three wins in seven games and PCT of 39.29.

Australia are placed second with eight wins in 12 games. Their PCT currently is 62.50. New Zealand and Sri Lanka are placed at third and fourth positions respectively.

England are placed fifth with eight wins in 16 matches till now. Their PCT currently is 42.19. South Africa, Pakistan, and the West Indies are the bottom three teams in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings.
