ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 updated points table after 2nd test, Pakistan vs England 2024

Pakistan are ranked eighth in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings.

Pakistan cricket team thrashed England by 152 runs in the second test of the three-match test series at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. With this victory, Pakistan ended their 11-match winless streak at home and also levelled the series 1-1.

Talking about the match, Pakistan made 366 in the first innings as debutant Kamran Ghulam played a splendid knock of 118 off 224 balls. Notably, he replaced star batter Babar Azam at No. 4, who had been “rested” after the first test.

In reply, England opener Ben Duckett played a fighting knock of 114 runs, but then the visitors collapsed and finished at 291. Pakistan spinner Sajid Khan picked up seven wickets in the first innings.

In Pakistan’s second innings, they made 221 and set a competitive target of 297 runs for England. Lower middle-order batter Agha Salman played a crucial knock of 63 runs.

While chasing, the Three Lions surrendered against Pakistan’s spinners. Noman Ali took eight wickets and Sajid Khan picked up two wickets as the visitors were bundled out for just 144 runs.

After thrashing England in Multan, the Pakistan cricket team are now placed eighth in the latest ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings. They have won three matches out of nine they have played so far. Their PCT (percentage of points won) currently is 25.93.

After this loss in Multan, England are placed fourth in the latest ICC WTC 2023-25 standings. The Three Lions have won nine matches out of 18 they have played in this cycle. Their PCT currently is 43.06.

Regardless of the result of this series and series, both England and Pakistan are unlikely to make it to the WTC 2023-25 final next year at the Lord’s, London.

India and Australia remain the top two teams in the latest ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings. India’s PCT is 74.24 and Australia’s PCT is 62.50. Sri Lanka are placed third with five wins in nine matches and have PCT of 55.56.

South Africa, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are placed fifth, sixth, and seventh positions, respectively, in the latest ICC WTC 2023-25 standings. The West Indies are languishing at the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table.
