Australia sealed their place in the ICC WTC 2023-25 final with win in the 5th AUS vs IND test in Sydney.

After a decade, Australia managed to defeat India in a test series and reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) with a 3-1 series win in the BGT 2024-25.

Australia won the fifth test of the series in Sydney by six wickets in the second session on day 3. The hosts rode on Scott Boland’s terrific performances with the ball in both innings – 4/31 and 6/45 – to thump India at the SCG.

India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and elected to bat first on a green pitch. India were bowled out for 185 runs in their first innings but the bowlers kept the side alive in the game by knocking over the hosts for 181. That was despite Bumrah not being available for the latter half of Australia’s innings due to back spasms.

Indian batsmen failed to step up once again as the visitors managed only 157 runs in their second innings. Rishabh Pant’s blitz of 61 (33) allowed them to set a competitive target of 162 runs.

The Bumrah-less bowling attack was unlikely to challenge Australia. Konstas scored 22, Usman Khawaja cracked 44 before Travis Head and Beau Webster’s partnership took them home.
