India defeated West Indies by an innings and 141 runs to secure their first win of the ICC WTC 2023-25 cycle.

India secured a convincing three-day victory against West Indies to kickoff their their ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign and earn valuable 12 points. West Indies failed to capitalize on winning the toss as their reckless approach resulted in a modest first-innings total of 150. In contrast, Yashasvi Jaiswal's composed 171, supported by Rohit Sharma's century and Virat Kohli's 76, helped India declare at 421 for 5, amassing a commanding lead of 271 runs.

As the match progressed, the deteriorating pitch favored Ravi Ashwin, who claimed seven wickets in the West Indies' second innings. The pitch's turn, bounce, and uneven behavior proved challenging for the hosts, and they were unable to extend the match to the fourth day. West Indies were all out for 130 and India secured a resounding victory by an innings and 141 runs, sealing a dominant performance.

India's dominant three-day victory has propelled them to the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) table, accumulating a perfect 12 points and maintaining a 100% win record. Australia currently occupy the second position with 22 points from 3 matches, achieving a win percentage of 61.11%. Meanwhile, England hold the third spot with 10 points from 3 matches and a win percentage of 27.78%.

The second test match of the series between West Indies and India is set to commence from July 20th to 25th at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
