ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table after second test between West Indies vs India

The second test ended in a draw with India and West Indies each receiving 4 points in their ICC WTC 2023-25 table tally.

Rain played a spoilsport in India’s Caribbean campaign as the second test ended in Draw at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago. Team India required 8 wickets to clean-sweep the West Indies while the Windies required 289 more in a 365-run chase.

It is a setback to India’s campaign in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, they will be missing out on some crucial 8 points that they were expected to pick up after the 4th day of the 2nd Test vs Windies. India began well at Windsor Park and bagged all 12 points but the poor weather at Port of Spain had made an 8-point deficit from the 12 contested points. 

Pakistan ranked number one, India second

West Indies will be happy to get 4 points after a rain-affected draw. India are now second in the table with 66.67% PCT, while Pakistan lead the table with 100% PCT. India have earned 16 points from the contested 24 points in 2 tests against West Indies.

Pakistan are number one in the chart and are in the driving seat once again in the second test against Sri Lanka. Australia and England are fighting it out in the Ashes and also in the WTC cycle. With 2 wins in 4 Ashes tests, Australia are 3rd with 54.17% PCT and England are 4th with just 29.17% PCT. 

Though it is just the beginning of the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, the tournament structure makes every single game an important one for all the teams. The Indian team dominated almost the entire part of the West Indies series and were cruising for another win.

India with an aggressive approach on day 4 put up 365 runs in front of the West Indies to chase. Ravi Ashwin was once again among the wickets as he bagged 2 in 2 overs for India and dismissed captain Kraigg Brathwaite and debutant Kirk Mckenzie.

India will be playing their next test series after ICC Cricket World Cup. India will be travelling to South Africa for a 2-match test series in December-January that will be counted in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

India played two consecutive finals and will be looking to make it third time lucky with the trophy in hand, all they have to do is not miss out on important points up for grabs. Pakistan are heading strong against Sri Lanka and had a great start to their campaign while Australia also had a tremendous run against England in the Ashes 2023.
