Bangladesh are currently slotted fifth in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table.

Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim’s 191-run knock in the first innings helped visitors clinch the opening fixture by 10 wickets over hosts Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on August 25.

Bangladesh have also created history as they won their first ever test match against Pakistan. The visitors also became the first team to crush Pakistan by 10 wickets in their backyard.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel (141 off 261 balls) and wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan (171 off 239 balls) helped hosts scored 448/6 in the first innings before declaring.

In reply, Bangladesh made a massive total of 565 runs in their first innings with help of wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim’s splendid knock of 191 runs. Rahim’s vital knock helped visitors take a 117-run lead.

In Pakistan’s second innings, wicket-keeper batter Rizwan scored a crucial 51-run knock, but Bangladesh spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz (4/21) and Shakib Al Hasan (3/44) bundled out the hosts for 146 runs, with Pakistan managing to set a small target of 30 runs.

While chasing 30 runs, Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan (15*) and Shadman Islam (9*) helped visitors clinch the match by 10 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing two-match test series.

Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim was adjudged Player of the Match for his impressive knock of 191 runs.

The ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle standings have seen major changes after Bangladesh outclassed Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first test match.

Bangladesh jumped to sixth place with two wins in five matches. Their PCT currently is 40.00. Meanwhile, Pakistan slipped down to eighth position with four losses in six matches. Their PCT is 30.56.

On the other hand, India and Australia remain firm at top of the WTC standings. Both nations are favourites to reach the final of the ongoing ICC tournament.

New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka are ranked third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the ongoing tournament.

South Africa are slotted seventh with two victories in six games. Their PCT currently is 38.89. West Indies are languishing at bottom of the points table in the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle.
