The first IND vs WI test, which was part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, saw India winning the game by a massive margin of innings and 140 runs.

The Indian Cricket Team started the home season on a high as they beat the West Indies Cricket Team by innings and 140 runs in the first game of the two-match test series at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. With the win, they bagged important ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points.

India, who were asked to field, had a sensational outing with the ball. They were all over the visiting batters with their new ball as Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah bowled some tough lines and lengths. The duo did the major damage, combining to pick seven wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets, while Washington Sundar took one scalp as India bundled the West Indies for 162. For the visitors, Justin Greaves (32) was the top run-getter, while the rest of the batters failed to go past the 30-run mark.

India then dominated with the bat as well. KL Rahul (100) slammed a brilliant ton while opening. Yashasvi Jaiswal (36) had a start but failed to convert that into a big one. Shubman Gill (50) also slammed a fifty as West Indies had no clue what to do.

Later Dhruv Jurel (125) and Ravindra Jadeja (102*) also had a good time in the middle, slamming magical tons. The duo added 206 runs together as India took a massive lead. The Shubman Gill-led side declared their innings at 448/5, taking a lead of over 280.

In the second innings, it was a similar story as of that in the first innings. Ravindra Jadeja ran through the top order, while Mohammed Siraj also chipped in as India took wickets at regular intervals. Alick Athanaze (38) and Justin Greaves (25) tried to hold the fort, but the Indian bowlers were brilliant.

India bundled the West Indies for 146 and won the game by innings and 140 runs to take an early lead in the two-match series.

After the 1st IND vs WI test, Australia are still at top of the ICC WTC 2025-27 points table followed by Sri Lanka. India, after the win, bag the third spot and are followed by England at four. Bangladesh are at six with PCT of 16.67, while the West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are yet to open their accounts.
