Pakistan defeated South Africa by 93 runs in the first test to move to second spot in ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table.
Pakistan Cricket Team defeated South Africa Cricket Team by 93 runs in first of the two-match test series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday, October 15. After opting to bat first in the match, the hosts Pakistan piled up 378/10 in the first innings, with half-centuries by Imam-Ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Mohammed Rizwan, and Salman Agha.
They then bowled out South Africa for 269, earning a lead of 109 runs. Tony de Zorzi smacked a century for the visitors while spinner Noman Ali clinched a six-wicket haul for Pakistan. In the second innings, Pakistan were bowled out for 167 runs, setting a target of 277 runs for South Africa.
With four-wicket hauls each by Noman Ali and Shaheen Afridi, they bundled the opposition for 183 runs in the second innings to win the encounter by a decent margin. Spinner Noman Ali was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling show in the clash. Notably, Pakistan have registered their first victory in ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.

After victory against South Africa in the first test, Pakistan have moved to the second spot in ICC WTC 2025-27 points table with a win percentage (PCT) of 100.0. On the other hand, South Africa occupy seventh spot after the defeat with a win percentage of 0. Both sides played their first test match of ICC WTC 2025-27.
Australia hold the top spot in the points table with a win percentage of 100.0. Sri Lanka and India hold the third and fourth spots with PCT of 66.67 and 61.90 respectively. England are next with PCT of 43.33, followed by Bangladesh at sixth position with PCT of 16.67. West Indies are yet to open their account, while New Zealand are yet to play a match in the ongoing ICC WTC cycle.
