ICC World Test Championship 2025-27: Updated points table after 2nd test, ENG vs IND 2025

India won their first match in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign for the Indian Cricket Team is off and running as they defeated the England Cricket Team in the second game of the five-match series. The match between the two teams took place at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
After facing a disappointing defeat in the first game of the series, the Indian Cricket Team came up with a brilliant effort in the second. They registered a 336-run win and opened their account in the ICC WTC 2025-27.
India were asked to bat first and they had a sensational outing with the bat as they posted 587 runs on the board in the first innings. Skipper Shubman Gill (269) led from the front as he hit a blistering double ton. Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) and Ravindra Jadeja (89) played handy knocks as they piled up a big total.
With the ball, India had a sensational start as they reduced England to 84 for five. However, after that, Jamie Smith (184*) and Harry Brook (158) brought their team back in the game. They added 303 runs for the sixth wicket that put the opposition under pressure. But bowlers came back strong and ended England’s innings on 407, allowing their team to take a lead of 180 runs.
In the second innings too, India had another sensational outing with the bat. Skipper Shubman Gill (161) shone yet again with a ton. Along with him, KL Rahul (55), Rishabh Pant (65) and Ravindra Jadeja (69*) hit fifties as India declared on 427/6, setting a target of 608 runs.
In the chase, England had a poor start as Akash Deep was all over the top order, picking four wickets in a flash as the hosts were left reeling at 83/5. Jamie Smith (88) played another fighting knock, but that wasn’t enough as India bundled out England for 271 to win the game by 336 runs.
