India won the second test against the West Indies to bag important ICC World test Championship points.
The Indian Cricket Team completed a 2-0 whitewash in the two-match series against the West Indies Cricket Team. After winning the first game by innings and 140 runs, they won the second game by seven wickets in Delhi to bag important ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points.
India batted first after winning the toss and it was a great start for them with KL Rahul (38) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) adding 58 runs for the opening partnership. But after that, it was absolute carnage as Sai Sudharsan (87) and Jaiswal were all over the bowlers.
The two southpaws stitched 193 runs for the second wicket as the West Indies bowlers had no clue to their heroics. Shubman Gill (129*), at four, slammed a ton as well, while contributions from Dhruv Jurel (44) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) allowed India to go past 500 runs as they declared their innings at 518.
India then were spot on with the ball as they didn’t let the West Indies batters get going at all. None of the visitors’ batter could go past 50 runs with Alick Athanaze (41) being the top run-getter. Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball as he picked five wickets, helping India bundle out the opposition for 248, taking a lead of 270.

India then enforced follow-on and the West Indies came up with a great fightback. Even though, Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze lost their wickets early, John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103) gave a tough time to the Indian bowlers.
Both batters batted with immense concentration and ensured that they ended the deficit. Campbell and Hope both hit magical tons and added 177 runs for the third wicket to put themselves in a tough situation. Captain Roston Chase (40) played a vital hand as well, making sure his team took the lead.
But after that, India made a strong comeback with Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah combining to pick five wickets in a flash. West Indies then showed great grit for the last wicket as Justin Greaves (50*) and Jayden Seales (32) added 79 runs for the last wicket, taking the team’s total to 390, setting the hosts a target of 121.
In the chase, Yashasvi Jaiswal (8) tried to go hard but lost his wicket early. KL Rahul (58*) and Sai Sudharsan (39) took the onus on themselves and added 79 runs together to take the game away from the West Indies. Although, Sudharsan and Gill got out, Rahul stayed unbeaten and took his team home with seven wickets in hand.
