New Zealand defeated West Indies by nine wickets in the second test to capture third spot in ICC WTC 2025-27 points table.
New Zealand Cricket Team clinched their first victory of ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 by defeating West Indies Cricket Team in the second test at Basin Reserve in Wellington. The BlackCaps crushed West Indies by nine wickets to gain a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
After opting to bowl first, the hosts bowled out the Caribbean side for just 205 runs in the first innings, with none of the batters hitting a half-century. John Campbell and Shai Hope added 44 and 47 runs respectively, with pacer Blair Tickner bagging a four-wicket haul.
New Zealand piled up 278/9 later, with half-centuries by Devon Conway and Mitchell Hay. The visitors failed to showcase a powerful batting performance in the second innings too, getting bundled out for just 128 runs with Kavem Hodge hitting the highest score of 35 runs.
Jacob Duffy (5 wickets) and Michael Rae (3 wickets) led New Zealand’s pace attack, setting an easy target of 56 runs, which Tom Latham & Co. chased like a walk in the park. Duffy, who picked a total of six scalps in the clash, was adjudged Player of the Match.

After defeating West Indies in the second test, New Zealand grab the third spot in ICC WTC 2025-27 points table with a win percentage (PCT) of 66.67. Out of two matches, they have won one game and drawn one. Moreover, West Indies languish at the last ninth spot with a PCT of 4.76. Out of seven matches, they have lost six clashes and drawn one.
Australia hold the peak position in ICC WTC 2025-27 points table with a PCT of 100.0, followed by South Africa in the second place. Sri Lanka, with an equal PCT as New Zealand, take the fourth spot. Pakistan and India remain in the fifth and sixth spots respectively, followed by England and Bangladesh at seventh and eighth.
