ICC World Test Championship 2025-27: Updated points table after 2nd test, PAK vs SA 2025

South Africa grab the fourth spot in ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table after defeating Pakistan by eight wickets in the second test.
South Africa Cricket Team outplayed Pakistan Cricket Team in the second and final test of the two-match series on Thursday, October 23. With the victory, the Proteas registered their first victory in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle and also ended the series in a 1-1 draw.
The hosts Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in the second test, which took place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. With half-centuries by Abdullah Shafique (57), Shan Masood (87), and Saud Shakeel (66), the home team piled up 333/10 in the first innings. Keshav Maharaj clinched a fabulous seven-wicket haul for the visitors.
After the Proteas lost their openers cheaply in the first innings, Tristan Stubbs (76) and Tony de Zorzi (55) accelerated with their half-centuries. Senuran Muthusamy scored unbeaten 89 runs, while Kagiso Rabada hammered 71 runs to drive the team’s total to 404/10, allowing team to take a lead.

Trailing by 77 runs, Pakistan faced a mini-batting collapse at the top order in the second innings, losing Imam-ul-Haq, Shafique, and Masood early. With 50 runs by Babar Azam, they crawled to 138/10 on the scoreboard, setting an easy 68-run target for the visitors.
With unbeaten 25 runs by Ryan Rickelton and 42 runs by Aiden Markram, South Africa captured a victory like a walk in the park by eight wickets. Maharaj won the Player of the Match award for his nine wickets during the entire game.

After their victory in the second test against Pakistan, South Africa grab the fourth spot in ICC WTC 2025-27 points table with a win percentage (PCT) of 50.0. Out of two matches, they have won one game and lost one encounter. Pakistan, who held the second spot ahead of the match, have dropped to the fifth spot in the points table following their defeat in the clash. Winning one game and losing one match out of two tests, the Men in Green too have a PCT of 50.0.
Australia (100.0), Sri Lanka (66.67) and India (61.90) hold the top three spots in ICC WTC 2025-27 points table respectively. England and Bangladesh occupy the sixth and seventh spots, while West Indies languish at bottom of the table with PCT of 0. New Zealand are yet to kick off their campaign.
