ICC World Test Championship 2025-27: Updated points table after 2nd test, SL vs BAN 2025

Sri Lanka won the second test against Bangladesh to register their first win of ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.

Sri Lanka Cricket Team crushed Bangladesh Cricket Team in the second test to win the two-match test series 1-0. The encounter took place at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo and concluded on June 28.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first in the encounter, Bangladesh posted 247/10 in the first innings with a top knock of 46 runs by Shadman Islam. Asitha Fernando and Sonal Dinusha grabbed three wickets each for Sri Lanka.

Later, the hosts piled up a big total of 458/10 in the first innings with a marvellous century by opener Pathum Nissanka (158). Dinesh Chandimal (93) and Kusal Mendis (84) also made crucial contributions with the bat. Taijul Islam scalped a five-wicket haul and Nayeem Hasan hunted three wickets for the visitors.

In the second innings, Bangladesh faced a batting collapse and were bowled out for just 133, losing the encounter by a huge margin of an innings and 78 runs. Prabath Jayasuriya led the hosts’ bowling attack, capturing a fifer in the second innings.

With the victory in the second test, Sri Lanka won the two-match test series 1-0. The opening encounter between both sides ended in a draw. Pathum Nissanka was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning century. Nissanka also won the Player of the Series award for scoring most runs (369) in the two-match test series.

In the updated ICC WTC 2025-27 points table, Australia hold the top spot with a win percentage (PCT) of 100.0. England follow them in the second place with an equal win percentage. Both Australia and England have won one match each in the cycle so far.

Sri Lanka, with a PCT of 66.67, occupy third spot in the ICC WTC 2025-27 points table. Bangladesh are placed fourth with a win percentage of 16.67. India and West Indies, who lost their respective opening games in the WTC cycle, are placed in the fifth and sixth spots respectively. New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are yet to begin their campaigns in the ongoing ICC WTC 2025-27.
