Imad Wasim was part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.
Pakistan all-rounder Iman Wasim has retired from international cricket for the second time, 13 months after his first retirement.
The left-arm spinning all-rounder had retired in November last year but made a comeback to feature in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies following his sensational form in the Pakistan Super League, where he played a starring role for champions Islamabad United.
It was a disastrous campaign for both Pakistan and Imad. Pakistan failed to go past the group stage following their losses against India and USA. Individually, Imad Wasim scored only 19 runs and picked up three wickets. He was then dropped from the side.
The 35-year-old bid adieu to international cricket once again on December 13, 2024. He will continue to ply his trade in domestic cricket in Pakistan and franchise cricket around the world.
Imad Wasim’s retirement note:
Imad Wasim announced his retirement on social media, writing, “To all fans & supporters: After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from international cricket. Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable.
Your unwavering support, love, and passion have always been my biggest strength. From the highs to the lows, your encouragement has pushed me to give my best for our beloved country. While this chapter comes to an end, I look forward to continuing my journey in cricket through domestic and franchise cricket, and I hope to keep entertaining you all in new ways.
“Thank you for everything. Pakistan”
