Pakistan's Imad Wasim takes u-turn from retirement; Makes himself available for ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Imad Wasim won Player of the Match award in the recently concluded PSL 2024 final.
Imad Wasim, the Pakistan all-rounder, has reversed his decision to retire from international cricket. He had announced his retirement in November 2023, saying it was time for him to focus on playing in foreign leagues.
Most recently, Wasim starred for the Islamabad United franchise in the later stages of the recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 as he picked 3/12 with the ball against Quetta Gladiators in the Eliminator. He was named the Man of the Match in the Eliminator and then in the final as he took a fifer (5/23) against Multan Sultans.
Imad’s outstanding performance in PSL 9, when he scored 126 runs and claimed 12 wickets, helped Islamabad United win their third PSL title.
After this performance, there were rumors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reaching out to the all-rounder and inviting him to PCB headquarters to discuss his international future. Imad Wasim had agreed to the same and the meeting happened on March 23, 2024.
“I would like to thank the PCB for reposing trust in me”- Imad Wasim makes himself available for T20 World Cup 2024
Before retiring, Imad Wasim appeared in 55 One-Day Internationals and 66 Twenty20 Internationals for Pakistan. He played his final T20I against New Zealand in Rawalpindi in April 2023. Pakistan played a T20I series following the ODI World Cup last year, which they also lost.
With the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 approaching and Imad’s recent heroics, his retirement reversal was the most debated topic in Pakistan cricket right now.
And now Imad Wasim himself revealed that after discussing the matter with the PCB officials, he has decided to reverse his retirement from international cricket. Wasim also made himself available for Pakistan in T20Is in preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024.
“I am happy to announce that pursuant to meeting PCB officials, I have reconsidered my retirement and am delighted to declare my availability for Pakistan cricket in T20i format leading up to ICC T20i World Cup 2024. I would like to thank the PCB for reposing trust in me and I would give my very best to bring laurels to my country. Pakistan comes first!”- Imad Wasim posted on X.
