IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli might miss entire five-match test series - Reports

Virat Kohli had made himself unavailable for the first two test matches of the IND vs ENG test series due to personal reasons.
Indian cricket team star batter, Virat Kohli had earlier opted out of the first two test matches against England, citing ‘personal reasons.’ This decision left fans speculating about his potential return for the remaining three matches. A recent report suggested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains uncertain about Kohli’s comeback.
Kohli’s absence has increased India’s challenges in the remainder series, as they are already grappling with the sidelining of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja due to injuries. Jadeja, suffering a hamstring injury and Rahul, nursing right quadriceps pain, have been ruled out of the second test match starting on February 2. The BCCI, in a statement, expressed concern over Jadeja’s injury, hinting at the possibility of him missing the remaining four matches.
Virat Kohli might not return for the remaining test series against England
According to a Times of India report, a BCCI official quoted that the board is yet to receive any communication from Kohli about his potential return. The official stated, “We haven’t heard anything from him on his return as yet.” This lack of clarity raises questions about the team’s strategy and composition for the crucial test series against England.
While Rahul might make a comeback later in the series, the seriousness of Jadeja’s injury is a cause for concern. The BCCI official acknowledged this uncertainty, mentioning, “Rahul could perhaps return later in this series, but Jadeja’s injury could be more serious. Let’s see what the NCA’s medical team tells us.” In the absence of key players, Indian squad have made some changes, with Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar being added to the lineup.
As the Indian cricket team eagerly awaits updates on Kohli’s status, the team management faces a daunting task in reshaping the playing XI. The BCCI assured that the medical team is closely monitoring the progress of the injured players, but the final decisions regarding their participation remains uncertain.
