India are scheduled to play Pakistan on Sunday, 10th September at Colombo in the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four game.
As the rain threat looms large over the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 Super Four clash at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the authorities are in no mood to take any chance and get a washout in a big business game in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament once again. India’s previous clash with Pakistan was a complete washout after the first half. Colombo is witnessing severe rain due to a delayed monsoon in Sri Lanka along with parts of Central Sri Lanka. Now, to avoid a washout in the next high-octane encounter between the two, ACC has decided to have a reserve day for one Super 4 encounter between India and Pakistan.
ACC announces reserve day for India vs Pakistan Super Four match
Asian Cricket Council in a release said, "A reserve day has been incorporated for the Super11 Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match between India vs Pakistan scheduled to take place on 10th September 2023 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. If adverse weather suspends play during the India vs Pakistan game, the match will continue on 11th September 2023 from the point it was suspended. In such an eventuality, ticket-holders are advised to hold on to their match tickets which will remain valid and will be utilised for the reserve day."
Colombo has been witnessing severe rains since last week and Asia Cricket Council was first looking to change the venue from Colombo to Sri Lanka's south coast Hambantota. But when ACC discussed this with the participating boards, Few refused to play the Asia Cup in Hambantota, and Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium was retained as it was scheduled originally. There is 90% chance of rain on Sunday when the India vs Pakistan game is scheduled to be played. Only one game will have a reserve day in the Super 4 round.
Indian camp is now boosted with Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback after his short stay at Home in Mumbai. Bumrah is joining back Indian camp on Friday. Indian bowlers didn’t get an opportunity to bowl against the Pakistani batters as rain didn’t allow any action after the first innings. Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi made the Indian top-order struggle with his pace and movement along with Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah. Asia Cup Super 4 round will resume on Saturday when Sri Lanka will take on Bangladesh. So far, every game of the tournament in Sri Lanka has been interrupted by rain.
