The IND vs AFG first T20I will be played on September 13.
India are going to face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series, and the first game will be played in Delhi, with the two teams set to meet at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13.
The series will be important for India as the team continues to manage thier squad ahead of the upcoming Asian Games. The second and third T20Is against Afghanistan are scheduled for September 15 and 17, also in Delhi at the same venue.
India will then travel to Japan for a one-off T20I against Japan on September 22 before starting their Asian Games campaign on September 28. With several matches coming in a short period, the team management will be looking closely at player fitness and combinations.
However, the first Afghanistan T20I had come under a cloud of doubt because of the BRICS Summit held in Delhi on September 12 and 13. The Delhi Traffic Police had raised concerns over the traffic and security arrangements required for both events.
The Delhi Traffic Police had written to the DDCA on September 09, asking it to consider moving the match to a date after the BRICS Summit.
According to the letter, the Summit is expected to bring a large number of foreign delegates, dignitaries and VVIPs to Delhi. This would require extensive traffic arrangements, including heavy deployment of police personnel.
