IND vs AFG Day 1 session timings for Mullanpur Test, India vs Afghanistan one-off Test 2026

The IND vs AFG Test will be played from June 6 in New Chandigarh.

India will host Afghanistan for the one-off Test match, which will be played from June 6. The venue for the match is Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh.

Shubman Gill-led India will be without services of Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah in this clash. However, Manav Suthar, Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey have received their maiden Test call-ups. Devdutt Padikkal is another significant addition. India have announced KL Rahul as their new vice captain, replacing Rishabh Pant in the role.

Afghanistan will be led by Hasmatullah Shahidi. They are playing India in this format after 8 years. The last time India met Afghanistan for a Test match, it was Afghanistan’s debut Test match. In the 2018 match, they had lost within two days, however, the present squad does present some confidence and challenge.

The Indian skipper has come after an exceptional IPL 2026 season, scoring 732 runs leading Gujarat Titans to the final. He is also the leading run-scorer in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle with 950 runs to his name. He returns to Test cricket after getting ruled out of the South Africa Tests midway due to his neck injury.

India’s highest wicket-taker in this ICC WTC cycle, Mohammad Siraj, will look forward to the challenge, as India miss out on Jasprit Bumrah. He will be leading the attack with Prasidh Krishna.
