India seem strong favourite to win IND vs AFG one-off Test in New Chandigarh.
India are clashing with Afghanistan in a one-off Test at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. The Test started on June 6 with India opting to bat first. They posted 368 runs at the end of Day 1, with significant contributions from Sai Sudharsan and a classy century from KL Rahul.
Day 1 also saw the local boy, Shubman Gill score his 11th Test hundred and the former vice captain Rishabh Pant scored yet another half century.
On Day 2, Gill and Pant came out to bat and they crafted a 169-run partnership before the skipper made his way to the dugout. Shortly after, Rishabh too joined him.
With the remarkable contributions from Washington Sundar (52*), debutant Manav Suthar (28) and Mohammed Siraj (22), India post a score of 564. After Sundar’s half century, India declared their innings, and called Afghanistan out to bat, just half an hour before the Tea break.
Mohammad Saleem’s brilliant bowling spells bagged him his first six-wicket haul, against India. He picked key wickets including Jaiswal, Sai, Gill, Jurel and the lower middle order batsmen.
For Afghanistan‘s first innings, Siraj and Prasidh Krishna opened the bowling for India, however remained wicketless in the initial spell. It was the debutant slow left-arm spinner Manav Suthar who got India their first breakthrough.
He became just the eighth Indian bowler to take a wicket in their first over in Men’s Tests. He did not stop there, Manav went on to pick two more wickets, one at the play’s end on Day 2. He has already picked his 3-wicket haul in his debut test.
With Afghanistan at 113-5, India would look to win this Test by a significant margin of an innings and some runs.

The opening sessions on day three of the one-off test IND vs AFG will begin at 9:30 AM IST, with the session set to end at 11:30 AM IST. Following it will be a 40-minute lunch break, from 11:30 AM to 12:10 PM IST. It will be followed by the second session, running from 12:10 PM to 2:10 PM IST.
The tea break will last 20 minutes, after that. The last sessions on Day 3 at Mullanpur will run from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM IST. An extra 30 minutes is allowed to cover the daily quota of overs.
