The IND vs AFG Test match will begin June 6.

After months of excitement filled with fast-paced action, courtesy of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, India are set to host Afghanistan for a Test and three-ODI match series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the teams for Afghanistan’s tour of India almost two weeks ago, with the test side led by Shubman Gill and KL Rahul as his deputy.

Apart from the two, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal will boost the batting line-up for the hosts, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar will help the team with their all-round prowess.

Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Manav Suthar, Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey are the bowlers who have secured a place in the 15-man team for the one-off test. Suthar, Brar, and Dubey have received their maiden call-ups to the national team for the red ball game.

The last time these two teams faced each other in a test match was in 2018 in Bengaluru, which was also Afghanistan‘s first test. Nevertheless, the one-off test will start on Saturday, June 6, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
