India started the IND vs AFG T20I series with a 1-0 lead in New Delhi.
The India Cricket Team kicked off their three-match T20I series against Afghanistan with a convincing victory by seven wickets in the first match held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The Afghan side scored a total of 156/8 after they were invited to bat first, but India achieved the score in just 13.4 overs.
Both sides had to deliver their best in the first match, and two exceptional individual performances outclassed others. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai delivered a remarkable unbeaten 64 runs from 44 balls after his team were reduced to 43/5, whereas Abhishek Sharma played a magnificent innings of 82 off 32 balls for India. Ishan Kishan also made 42 to see India through.
The next match between these two sides is scheduled to be played on the 15th of September at the same venue, the Arun Jaitley Stadium. India now have a 9-0 advantage over the Afghans in the shortest format of the game.
