Azmatullah Omarzai (50) supported him brilliantly and scored a half-century but the visitors could not bat for the entire 50 overs. They were bowled out for 218 in the 45th over. Prasidh Krishna, who replaced Arshdeep Singh in the XI, clinched a five-wicket haul.
In the chase, Afghanistan bowlers had no answers to the carnage by Indian batters. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (110*) hit a century while veteran Rohit Sharma (79) hammered a half-century to take their team to victory in just 28.4 overs. They etched an opening stand of 170 runs. Shreyas Iyer (20*) also played a decent hand as India completed a brilliant nine-wicket win.
