IND vs AFG: What are the playing 11 of India & Afghanistan in 1st ODI?

India and Afghanistan are locking horns in the 1st ODI today.

The three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) has commenced today (June 13) at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The next two ODIs will take place on June 17 and 20.

Both sides also locked horns in a one-off Test recently, in which India crushed Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs, scripting the record for their biggest-ever victory in Test cricket by margin of runs.

This is the fifth ODI between India and Afghanistan. Before this, the two teams have faced each other in four ODIs. Notably, India do not have a 100% win record against their Asian rival. Out of four ODIs, the Men in Blue have won three games, while one clash ended in a tie.

The IND vs AFG 1st ODI was hampered by rain. Continuous rain in Dharamsala delayed the start of the match. The toss was scheduled for 1:00 PM IST; however, it took place at 5:15 PM.

India won the toss and opted to BOWL first. Below is the playing 11 of both teams for the 1st ODI.

India: Shubman Gill(c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan(w), Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harsh Dubey, Gurnoor Brar, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna

Afghanistan: Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sediqullah Atal, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi(c), Azmatullah Omarzai, Ikram Alikhil(w), Rashid Khan, Mohammad Saleem Safi, AM Ghazanfar, Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi.

Speaking at the toss, Shubman Gill said, “We will bowl first. It’s a bit overcast, so the bowlers might get some help. Looks like a good surface, good wicket to bat on, could be something early on for the pacers. It’s all about trying different combinations to see what works for us. We’re playing around 15-20 ODIs before the World Cup, so it’s about trying things. We’re going with two debutants. Jaiswal, Prince and Kuldeep miss out”.

Where is the India vs Afghanistan match taking place?

The match is underway on June 13 at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
